
Prof. Dr. Björn-Martin Kurzrock is Professor of Real Estate Studies at RPTU. In the Department of Civil Engineering, he is responsible for various core modules in the Bachelor's and Master's degree program Real Estate and Facilities - Management and Technology, and has been the program director since 2015. He is also a member of the departmental council and a founding ambassador for students and alumni.
Together with his team and partners, Professor Kurzrock conducts research on the digitalization of real estate management as well as the development and operation of real estate and urban districts. He teaches Strategic Real Estate and Facilities Management, Investment Management, Project Development, Due Diligence, Documentation and Valuation.
Prior to his professorship he was Head of Research at IPD Investment Property Databank (today: MSCI) Germany and before that he worked for international companies in the field of portfolio analysis and benchmarking of institutional real estate portfolios. He received his doctorate from the EBS European Business School (EBS Universität for Business and Law) on the topic of "Factors influencing the performance of direct real estate investments". In addition to studying business administration with a focus on real estate and finance at EBS, he earned a Master of Science in Real Estate at Georgia State University Atlanta (USA).
Professor Kurzrock is a member of the Editorial Board of the German Journal of Real Estate Research.He is acting president of the European Real Estate Society (ERES). Since 2016, he has been a Member of the Board of ERES, where he represents the German Society of Property Researchers (gif). Professor Kurzrock has been awarded the student council prize for outstanding teaching several times by the students in the Department of Civil Engineering at RPTU.
