LZK-SIM [BAU]: Development of a Method for the Simulation of Building Life Cycle Costs

Project Description

The aim of the research project was to develop the LZK-SIM [BAU] model and a simulation environment for the life cycle costs of buildings. LZK-SIM [BAU] enables a forecast of the total life cycle costs at the time of the planning phase. The forecast goes beyond pure scenarios by simulating costs stochastically. Life cycle costs can thus be presented transparently for each component and each system of a building. The simulation environment also allows approximate multi-criteria optimization of the configuration of components and systems in buildings. The multi-criteria optimization and the representation of probability distributions for the level of the most important cost types support decision-making processes in the design, planning, construction, maintenance and modernization of buildings.
