Glare at workplace

Large glazed surfaces in office buildings lead to high solar benefits and frequently to glare at computer work places. Building users who are thereby affected in their work, make arrangements not considered in planning of building technology. As a consequence permanent clouding of windows or exceeding of the blinding’s automation algorithm can lead to considerably less saving of energy than prognosticated.

Modelling of glaring effects with appropriate software (Radiance) respectively technical measurement evaluation of critical lighting situation is the matter of the field of research. Moreover the interdependency of glaring induced intervention in building automation with room conditioning shall be reviewed.
