The Civil Engineering Student Council’s CIP Pool offers you computer workstations for your studies, coursework, and project work. It consists of two rooms: the large CIP with 15 workstations and the small CIP with 9 workstations. Both rooms are set up identically in terms of system and administrative infrastructure, so you’ll have the same working environment available on all computers.

The large CIP is primarily used for lectures and tutorials. The small CIP is available to students for independent work, provided that a student council member is on site and can unlock the room.

Fun Fact: CIP doesn’t stand for “Computers in a Pool,” but rather for “Computer Investment Program.” These CIP pools date back to funding programs from the 1980s, which were designed to give students access to networked computer workstations. The name has stuck—even though, fortunately, the technology has advanced a bit since then.
