Project description:
The primary objectives of IWA-I (Integrated Management of Urban Water Resources to Promote Blue-Green Infrastructures) include, most notably, knowledge exchange at high scientific level, complementary knowledge acquisition and the promotion of young scientists from both research institutions participating in the programme "PPP Brazil 2020": The University of Kaiserslautern (TUK) and the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS). The collaboration intends to open up new perspectives in research and teaching for both research groups. By combining water research areas in Germany and Brazil with complementary competences, the project will focus on the development and adaptation of solutions for an integrated management of urban water resources to establish and strengthen urban blue-green infrastructures. Complementary methodological scientific approaches will be learnt by both partners and consistently applied in the project, resulting in an immediate dissemination of the existing expertise. Considering different country-specific boundary conditions, innovation at both technological and conceptual level will be a central driver for developing sustainable and resilient urban systems. In the mobility project IWA-I, existing approaches will be considerably expanded in close collaboration with the Brazilian partner university.
