Project description:
RoKKa pursues the vision of rebuilding wastewater treatment plants into wastewater biorefineries by aiming to generate products of sufficient value and to make the processes economically viable and eco-friendly. RoKKa demonstrates the production of value added products with six pilot plants at the Wastewater Biorefinery Erbach. Nitrogen and phosphorus recovery is coupled with the production of bio-stimulants with microalgae. Carbon capture and usage to produce basic chemicals is piloted inside the gas stream of the combined heat and power plant. As a result of RoKKa, the environmental objectives of wastewater treatment plants can be analysed under multivariate aspects (water protection, bioeconomy, climate protection etc.).
