Excursion to the Fraport AG

The fact that the operation of a major airport poses enormous challenges for their future career field was experienced by 17 students of the Facility Management course during an excursion to Frankfurt Airport. They were invited by Fraport AG, which presented the company's organizational structure in various technical lectures in the morning and addressed the wide range of requirements for facility managers. A special topic was the supply of the airport with local and district heating, cooling systems, water and electricity.

The presentations were followed by a tour of the baggage control center, which impressed with its wall-sized visualization of baggage routes and acute malfunctions. As a highlight of the event, the excursion group was then allowed to take part in an apron tour, which even included a look inside the cockpit of an A830.

The day at Fraport AG was not only instructive, but also left the students with lasting impressions and a fascination for the task of "airport facility management". The excursion was organized by the Department of Facility Management and Technical Building Equipment (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sabine Hoffmann) as part of the lecture "Technical Facility Management".
