Main research topic: Lightweight constructions made of concrete

At TU Kaiserslautern scientists of various disciplines esp. civil engineering, architecture and mechanical engineering, have joined together to establish a basis for design and construction with high performance concretes. Such concretes allow completely new construction methods. Filigree construction elements for facades, ceilings or roofs become possible. However the combination of concrete with its high compressive strength and steel panels with their high tensile strength in form of a composite material is possible in an optimal way.
